👻 THE OTHERS: When the Truth Is What Haunts Us
What if the thing haunting you isn't a ghost… but a truth you're not ready to face?
Spooky Season continues on Metaphysics at the Movies with Rev. Rich P as we explore the chilling 2001 thriller The Others, starring Nicole Kidman.
Behind the mysterious doors, darkened rooms, and unexpected twists lies a powerful spiritual lesson about consciousness, fear, denial, and the beliefs that keep us trapped.
In this episode, we uncover:
🔮 How our beliefs shape our reality
🕯️ Why we sometimes fear the truth
👁️ The spiritual meaning of darkness and light
❤️ How attachment keeps us stuck in the past
🙏 The difference between control and faith
✨ Why awakening requires honesty and courage
Drawing on traditional Unity teachings, scripture, and practical spirituality, Rev. Rich challenges us to ask:
Are we seeing life as it really is, or simply as we've always believed it to be?
Plus, don't miss this week's Spooky Season spiritual assignment: Open One Curtain, and find out why we're heading into A Nightmare on Elm Street next week!

Welcome to Spooky Season! 👻
We’re kicking things off with The Sixth Sense — but we’re looking beyond the ghosts, the scares, and that unforgettable twist to uncover the spiritual lessons hiding underneath.
What if the things that keep “haunting” us aren't always here to frighten us? What if some fears, memories, wounds, and patterns keep returning because something within us is asking to be acknowledged and healed?
In this episode, Rev. Rich P explores:
✨ How consciousness shapes what we see
✨ Why running from fear can give it more power
✨ Unresolved consciousness and the things that “haunt” us
✨ Listening as a form of healing
✨ How truth can completely change our perception
✨ Acceptance, release, and moving forward
✨ The “sixth sense” of intuition and spiritual awareness
Plus, you'll receive a Spooky Season assignment to work with until our next episode.
Sometimes what scares us isn't coming to destroy us.
Sometimes it's asking us to finally see it.
🎧 Watch the movie. Listen to the episode. Then take the lesson into your own life.
👻 Next week on Spooky Season: The Others — where we'll explore grief, denial, attachment, and what happens when we become so committed to our version of reality that we can't see the truth.

What if you don’t need the whole map before taking the next step?
🎬 In the final episode of our Summer Blockbusters That Teach Spiritual Truth series, Rev. Rich explores Forrest Gump and what this unforgettable story can teach us about purpose, presence, love, loss, change, and trusting the journey.
Forrest doesn’t have his whole life planned out. He simply keeps showing up, responding to what’s in front of him, and moving forward.
🙏 Unity Power: Will
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to figure out where life is taking us that we miss the step that’s right in front of us.
This week, ask yourself:
What am I refusing to begin because I don’t know how it will end?
You don’t need the next ten steps.
What’s the next step you already know you can take?
🎧 Press play and discover why sometimes clarity comes after we start moving.
👻 AND NEXT WEEK... SPOOKY SEASON BEGINS!
We kick off a brand-new series with:
🎬 The Sixth Sense: What Are You Still Holding Onto?
What if the thing haunting you isn’t trying to frighten you? What if it’s asking to be healed?
More from Rev. Rich: www.revrichp.com
Take that Truth... and walk with it.
What happens when you can’t immediately change your circumstances?
Can you still be free on the inside?
🎬 This week on Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich explores The Shawshank Redemption and its powerful message about hope, freedom, persistence, and refusing to let your circumstances define you.
Andy Dufresne is physically imprisoned, but Shawshank reminds us that not every prison has bars.
Fear can become a prison.
Regret can become a prison.
Our past can become a prison.
Even the familiar can keep us trapped when we’re afraid to imagine something different.
🙏 Unity Power: Imagination
Andy can imagine a life beyond the walls before he ever experiences it. Maybe that’s where freedom begins for us too.
This week, ask yourself:
Where have I started believing that my current circumstances are permanent?
Then ask:
What would hope allow me to imagine beyond this?
You don’t have to change everything today.
Just take the next step.
🎧 Press play and discover why the walls around you don’t have to become walls within you.
🎬 NEXT: Forrest Gump: What If You Don’t Have to Have It All Figured Out?
More from Rev. Rich: www.revrichp.com
Take that Truth... and walk with it.
What if the life you call “reality” is being shaped by beliefs you never consciously chose?
And what happens when you finally wake up and start questioning them?
🎬 This week on Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich goes down the rabbit hole with The Matrix.
Neo knows something isn’t right. He can’t explain it, but somewhere inside he knows:
There has to be more than this.
Sound familiar?
Using The Matrix as our guide, we explore spiritual awakening, the beliefs and “programming” we inherit, and the courage it takes to question what we’ve always accepted as true.
We’ll talk about the red pill and blue pill, “There is no spoon,” the Oracle’s invitation to know yourself, Neo’s struggle to believe in himself, and why sometimes the biggest thing keeping us trapped isn’t our circumstances. It’s what we believe about them.
🙏 Unity Power: Faith
This week, ask yourself:
What belief have I been treating as reality without ever questioning it?
“I’m too old.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“I can’t change.”
“I could never do that.”
Then ask:
Is that a fact... or is it programming?
Awareness is only the beginning. Eventually, we have to decide what we’re going to do with what we’ve discovered.
🎧 Press play and let’s find out how deep the spiritual rabbit hole really goes.
🎬 NEXT EPISODE: The Shawshank Redemption — What part of you can remain free even when your circumstances aren’t?
Follow Metaphysics at the Movies so you don’t miss the next episode, and share this one with someone who may be ready to question a few limits of their own.

Take that Truth... and walk with it.
What if some of the beliefs shaping your life were never actually chosen by you?
What if you simply inherited them?
In this episode of Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich explores The Truman Show and the surprisingly deep spiritual journey hiding inside Truman Burbank’s seemingly perfect life.
Truman has a job, a wife, a home, friends, and a comfortable routine. There’s just one problem.
Almost everything around him is fake.
As cracks begin appearing in Truman’s carefully constructed world, he starts asking questions. And once he sees what he couldn’t see before, going back to sleep becomes almost impossible.
Sound familiar?
We’ll explore how our own lives can be shaped by beliefs about success, money, relationships, God, worth, and what we believe is possible for us.
We’ll talk about fear, conditioning, spiritual awakening, authenticity, and the courage required to leave something familiar when you know it no longer fits.
And we’ll explore the Unity Power of Will, our ability to choose consciously and put action behind what we know.
This week’s practice begins with one question:
Who told me that?
Take one limiting belief you regularly repeat about yourself and ask where it came from.
Then ask:
Is it still true?
Finally:
What would I choose if I didn’t have to obey that belief anymore?
You don’t have to figure out your entire life today.
Sometimes you just need to find the next door.
Then decide whether you’re willing to walk through it.

Independence Day: We Are Stronger Together
What if one of the biggest alien-invasion movies ever made is really about connection?
In this episode of Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich takes a fresh look at Independence Day and explores the spiritual truth hiding underneath the explosions, spaceships, fighter jets, and unforgettable speeches.
At the beginning of the movie, everyone is separated by nation, role, fear, and personal priorities. But when the crisis becomes bigger than their differences, they remember something important:
We are stronger together.
This episode explores what that means from a Unity perspective and how practical spirituality calls us not just to independence, but to interdependence.
We’ll talk about:
How fear can separate us—and how love brings us back together
Why crisis often reveals the connection that was already there
What President Whitmore’s leadership teaches us about discovering strength under pressure
Why ordinary people can become essential in extraordinary moments
How David Levinson reminds us that knowledge only matters when it is shared and put into action
Why asking for help is not weakness
The difference between independence and interdependence
The Unity Power of Love as a force that harmonizes, connects, and brings people together
This week’s spiritual practice is simple:
Ask yourself, “Where am I trying to do everything alone?”
Then ask:
“Who could I invite into this?”
And turn the question around:
“Who around me might need something I already know how to give?”
Sometimes the spiritual breakthrough is not doing more by yourself.
Sometimes it is allowing community to become part of the answer.
Featured Unity Power: Love
Key Takeaway:
We do not become connected when crisis happens. Crisis often reveals that we were connected all along.
Next time on Metaphysics at the Movies, we step into a world that looks perfectly normal—until one man begins questioning everything he has been taught to accept.
🎬 The Truman Show — What If the Life You’re Living Isn’t Really Yours?
We’ll explore conditioning, identity, fear, authenticity, and what happens when spiritual awakening begins with one simple question:
“Is this really my life... or is this the life I was taught to live?”

Raiders of the Lost Ark: What Are You Chasing?
What are you chasing right now?
Success? Security? Recognition? A relationship? The next opportunity?
And here's the bigger question: What do you believe you'll finally feel when you get it?
In this episode of Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich continues the Summer Blockbusters That Teach Spiritual Truth series with Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Yes, we're talking Indiana Jones, ancient temples, snakes, giant boulders, the Ark of the Covenant—and somehow, that hat that never seems to fall off.
But underneath all that adventure is a surprisingly spiritual story about desire, ego, control, wisdom, and learning when to stop trying to figure everything out and simply trust.
Indiana Jones spends the movie chasing the Ark, while others pursue it for power, prestige, and control. And maybe that's not so different from us.
We all chase something.
The question is whether we're chasing the thing itself—or the feeling we believe it's going to give us.
In this episode, we'll explore:
Why getting what we're chasing doesn't always give us what we're really seeking
The difference between wanting God's guidance and wanting God to approve the plan we've already made
What Belloq teaches us about facing our own shadow
Why courage doesn't mean never being afraid
What Indy's fear of snakes teaches us about our own hidden fears
Why sometimes the most spiritual thing we can say is, "I don't know"
The difference between knowledge and wisdom
Why surrender doesn't mean giving up
The Unity Power of Wisdom
A practical exercise to uncover what may really be underneath the things you're pursuing
This week's spiritual practice begins with two questions:
What am I chasing right now?
Then go a little deeper:
What do I believe I'll feel when I finally get it?
You may discover that what you've really been seeking isn't something outside of you at all.
Maybe it's security.
Worth.
Love.
Peace.
Belonging.
And perhaps some of what you've been chasing has been within you all along.

What if E.T. isn’t only about an alien trying to get back to his planet?
What if it’s really about something all of us understand—the longing to belong, to be seen, and to find our way home?
In this episode of Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich takes a fresh look at E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and explores the spiritual truth hidden inside this beloved classic.
Through Elliott and E.T.’s unlikely friendship, we reflect on loneliness, connection, Divine Love, and the quiet ways Spirit shows up in unexpected places. We also explore what it means to remember that home is not only a place. Spiritually, home is the awareness that we have never been separated from God.
In this episode, we talk about:
This week’s practice is called Phone Home.
Before checking your phone each morning, take five quiet minutes, place your hand over your heart, and affirm:
“God is here. I am here. We have never been separated.”
If you have ever felt lost, alone, or unsure where you belong, this episode is a reminder that the home you’ve been searching for may be closer than you think.

When most people think of Jaws, they remember the shark, the suspense, and the unforgettable music. But what if the real story isn't about a shark at all?
In this episode of Metaphysics at the Movies, Rev. Rich explores the timeless spiritual lessons hidden beneath one of cinema's greatest blockbusters. Drawing from Unity teachings, biblical wisdom, and practical metaphysics, this episode invites you to look beyond the surface of the film and into your own life. Whether you're avoiding a difficult conversation, facing uncertainty, healing from the past, or simply trying to take the next step in faith, you'll find encouragement and practical tools you can begin using today.
