Simon Quiroz is a filmmaker, educator, post-production expert, and avid technologist. Simon is a storyteller first and technologist second. Simon has participated in a wide array of academic and professional projects ranging from writing, producing, and directing his own films; supervising the process of defining the color and aesthetic looks for documentary and narrative films; and leading creative teams in film production, VFX, XR, and interactive projects, including the creation of an Augmented Reality map and Campus Tour for UT Austin. Similarly, Simon has designed and implemented advanced workflows for projects utilizing cutting edge technology in the fields of image capture and display. He established the 3D 360 post-production workflow for Liveplanet, a 3D 360 camera and cloud distribution company where he also provided his input to the continued development of the camera system. Simon played a major role in the evolution and growth of the prestigious UT3D program at the University of Texas in Austin, mentoring and training students in the use of stereoscopic imaging and best practices for S3D storytelling and VR experiences. Simon has taught at the University of Texas at Austin in the Radio, Television and Film department in the areas of post-production, VFX, XR and immersive storytelling. Starting in the Fall of 2022 he will spearhead the Film/Time-based media program at Cal State Channel Islands.Social media links:
