When we lead with apologetic firepower we miss the bruise that actually closed the door. Jesus crosses a centuries-old ethnic line at Jacob's well, asks a Samaritan woman for water, invites her into an adventure of seeking, and gently exposes the thirst beneath her five marriages. He never apologizes for the truth, but he never wields it as a weapon either. We are heralds of a King who is big enough to defend himself, and our job is to ask, listen, love, and trust that some plant, some water, and some reap.
