Have you ever felt stuck because you couldn't see the full picture of what God had planned for your life?

In today's episode, Richelle Alessi takes us into Ruth 1:22 and reminds us that sometimes faith isn't about knowing exactly where we're going, but trusting God enough to take the next step. After experiencing tremendous loss and uncertainty, Naomi and Ruth made the decision to return to Bethlehem, unaware of what was waiting for them. What they didn't know was that they were arriving at the beginning of the barley harvest, a season that would become significant in their story.

We'll be challenged to stop waiting until we have every answer before moving forward in faith. Whether we're navigating a difficult transition, making an important decision, or stepping into an unfamiliar season, God doesn't always reveal the entire journey at once. Sometimes He simply asks us to trust His wisdom, seek His guidance, and take the next right step. Just as Naomi and Ruth couldn't see what was ahead, we may not recognize how God is working until we look back and see His faithfulness.

If your kids inherited only your character, what would they actually be getting? The greatest inheritance you can leave isn’t what you put in your children’s hands, it’s what you put in their hearts. 

Proverbs 13:22 says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. Most of us hear “inheritance” and think of money, property, or investments. Building wealth and providing for your family matter, but Chris argues that inheritance runs deeper than a bank account. Whether you realize it or not, your children are already receiving one from you. They see your faith, your work ethic, how you treat your wife, how you handle money, and how you respond when life gets hard. You don’t need to be in a certain tax bracket to leave a legacy. The only question is what kind.

A man can leave his children a million dollars and no wisdom to manage it. He can leave them property but no relationship with God, possessions but no example of integrity. When your kids learn from you to work hard, honor God, keep their word, give generously, save wisely and never quit, that inheritance shapes generations. The verse looks past your children to their children. It pictures a man asking what he can build today that will bless people he may never meet. That’s legacy. So build, save, give, teach, lead, and pray. Most of all, build your life on Jesus, because the greatest legacy isn’t that your family remembers your name. It’s that they remember the God you served.

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge

Ask yourself one question: “What am I building today that will still matter 30 years from now?” Then take one practical step toward your family’s future. You could put money into savings, pay down debt, teach your child something you’ve learned, pray with your kids at bedtime or the dinner table, or recommit to consistency in your walk with God. Do one thing today your future family will thank you for. Don’t just leave them possessions. Leave them a foundation.

What do you do when you’ve prayed, worked and waited, and nothing seems to change? God is still at work while you wait, so don’t let delayed hope turn into defeated hope. 

Proverbs 13:12 says hope deferred makes the heart sick. It might be the promotion that never comes, the business that won’t take off, the marriage that isn’t changing, or the prayer that seems to go unanswered. Disappointment rarely knocks a man down all at once. It drains him slowly, from excitement to impatience to discouragement to cynicism, until he’s still showing up, but his heart has checked out.

Waiting doesn’t mean God is absent. Like a seed in the ground, much of what God does happens below the surface where we can’t see it. We want the harvest while He’s growing the roots, and we want the breakthrough while He’s building our character. Sometimes we simply aren’t ready yet, and sometimes His answer looks different than we expected, but He is faithful even when our timeline isn’t. And while you wait, don’t go blind to what He’s already given you. Someone else is praying for the job, the family, or the children you already have. Don’t miss today’s blessings because you’re fixated on tomorrow’s promise. A man of God doesn’t quit because the answer hasn’t arrived. He trusts the One who holds it and stewards what’s already in his hand.

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge

Write down one thing you’ve been waiting for that’s been discouraging you, and underneath it write: “God, I trust you with the timing.” Spend five minutes thanking God for three things He has already given you. Then take one faithful step toward what you’re waiting for, whether that’s planning the date, making the budget, sending the application, or continuing to pray and show up for your family. You can’t control the timeline, but you can control your faithfulness.

Have you ever walked through a season so painful that you began to question whether God had forgotten about you?

In today's episode, Richelle Alessi takes us into Ruth 1:20–22, where Naomi returns to Bethlehem carrying the weight of tremendous loss. Her grief is so overwhelming that she asks those around her to call her Mara, meaning bitter, because her circumstances have completely changed the way she sees herself and her relationship with God.

We'll be challenged to examine how we respond when life feels unfair, our prayers seem unanswered, or everyone around us appears to be moving forward while we're standing still. It's okay to acknowledge our pain, frustration, and disappointment before God. Faith doesn't require us to pretend everything is fine. Instead, it invites us to bring our emotions honestly to the Lord while continuing to trust His faithfulness. Even when we cannot see what He's doing, we can believe that He hasn't abandoned us and that our difficult seasons don't have to define who we are.

Let's join in prayer and devotion as a community, asking God to meet us in our bitter seasons, help us remain honest with Him without losing our faith, and open our eyes to the ways He's still working in our lives.

Her decision wasn't based on convenience or certainty about the future, but on love, commitment, and faith.

We'll be challenged to examine where we're placing our loyalty and whether we're remaining faithful to the right people, principles, and promises. Sometimes God provides comfort through the relationships He's placed around us, reminding us that we were never meant to walk through difficult seasons alone. Just as Ruth's faithfulness became part of a much greater story, our decisions to remain committed to God and His Word can have an impact far beyond what we see today.

When the argument won’t go away, have you thought about whether the problem might be you? Your pride keeps conflicts alive, but humility ends them. 

Proverbs 13:10 says that where there is strife, there is pride. Our first instinct in any conflict, with our wife, our kids, a coworker, or a friend, is to decide the other person is the unreasonable one. Solomon won’t let us stop there. Chris explains how pride turns small disagreements into deep divisions, and why three simple words, “Maybe I’m wrong,” can be both the hardest and the most powerful thing a man says.

Scripture doesn’t say wisdom belongs to the man who gives advice. It says wisdom is found in the man willing to receive it. A strong man doesn’t think he knows everything; he knows he doesn’t. His wife, his pastor, and the brothers who’ve walked the road before him can all see things he can’t. If nobody in your life has permission to correct you, you’ll end up surrounded by people who only tell you what you want to hear. Pride wants to win the argument, while wisdom wants to find the truth. Pride asks, “How do I prove I’m right?” Wisdom asks, “What can I learn from this?” Sometimes the person God most wants to change isn’t the one you’re in conflict with. It’s you.

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge

Identify one person you trust to tell you the truth and ask them: “Is there anything you see in my life that I need to work on?” Then don’t defend, explain or argue. Just listen, say “Thank you, I’ll pray about that,” and take it to God. If something needs to change, change it. And if pride has kept you from making the first move in a conflict, make the call, send the text, and take responsibility for your part.

You can keep your cool at work all day, so why does it fall apart the minute you walk through your own front door? Your words can build the people you love or tear them down, so guard them before you need to apologize for them. 

Chris Muiña opens the Proverbs 13 week with a hard look at the hardest thing for a man to control. It’s not his schedule, his money, or even his temper. It’s his mouth. Proverbs 13:3 puts it plainly: guard your lips and you protect your life, but speak rashly and you invite ruin. Chris explains why rash words are what come out before wisdom has caught up with emotion, and why “I’m sorry” doesn’t always undo the damage they leave behind in a marriage, with a child, or between friends.

To guard something means you recognize it’s valuable. Your words are worth guarding because of who is on the other side of them. Self-control over your tongue isn’t weakness. Anybody can yell, insult, or fire back. It takes strength to stop, listen, walk away, and come back calm, and say, “I was wrong.” A godly man still speaks the truth and still has hard conversations, but he doesn’t have to win every argument or get the last word. James 1:19 gives the order: quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. Sometimes the strongest man in the room is the one who knows when to close his mouth and open his ears.

Your Daily Man-Up Challenge

Before you respond today, especially when you’re angry, frustrated, or offended, pause and ask three questions: Is it true? Is it necessary? Will it build up or tear down? Then go one full day without a negative or insulting word about anyone. That means no complaining about your wife, no criticizing coworkers, no gossip, no needless sarcasm. When you feel the heat rising, stop, breathe, and pray. If something slips out anyway, own it and apologize without blaming anyone else.

Have you ever struggled to be generous because you were worried about whether you'd have enough for yourself?

Through Paul's gratitude for the generosity of the Philippian church, we're reminded that we can live generously because we serve a generous God. Our giving isn't meant to be a transaction where we expect something in return, but a reflection of God's character and our trust in His provision.

We'll be challenged to examine where we've placed our security and whether fear has caused us to hold too tightly to what we have. While God doesn't promise a life without difficulties or unlimited financial abundance, He invites us to trust Him as our provider. When we recognize that our greatest treasure is found in Christ, we can approach our finances, relationships, and opportunities to serve with greater freedom and generosity.

Let's join in prayer and devotion as a community, asking God to give us generous hearts, strengthen our trust in His provision, and remind us that our security isn't found in what we possess, but in the One who faithfully provides for us.
