Mhairi Fenton: The First Virtual London Marathon and Maintaining Motivation

I loved speaking to Mhairi this week all about her amazing completion of the first virtual London Marathon!

The episode is split into two, with the first half recorded a few days before the race and the second section being recorded a couple of days after the 26.2 miles.

In the first part we discuss the unique nature of the 2020 London Marathon and what inspired Mhairi to run and fundraise for the excellent Alzheimer's society. We also explore planning the route in Edinburgh, training strategies to build endurance and strength, the importance of recovery, and maintaining motivation.

In the second half of the episode we speak all about race day; including how Mhairi approached nutrition and hydration, weather conditions, support cars and pacing on the day, as well as coping with the challenging sections of the run.
