తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం, గత రెండుళ్లుగా, రాష్ట్ర మహిళా కమిషన్ చైర్‌పర్సన్ పదవిని ఖాళీగా ఉంచింది. గత రెండు సంవత్సరాలుగా, రాష్ట్రంలోని మహిళా హక్కుల కార్యకర్తలు, ఎన్జీవోలు, న్యాయవాదులు…. ఇలా అనేక మంది, తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వానికి ఈ విషయం గురించి తరచుగా అభ్యర్థిస్తూ వచ్చారు. రాష్ట్ర మహిళా కమిషన్‌కు చైర్‌పర్సన్‌ను నియమించాలని జాతీయ మహిళా కమిషన్ కూడా తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కోరింది. అయినప్పటికీ, ప్రభుత్వం వైపు నుండి ఇప్పటివరకు సరైన స్పందన రాలేదు..  అసలు రాష్ట్ర మహిళా కమిషన్ విధులేంటి, కమిషన్ చైర్‌పర్సన్‌ను నియమించకపోవడం వల్ల రాష్ట్ర మహిళలు కోల్పోతున్నదేమిటి, మహిళా కమిషన్ పనితీరులో లోటుపాట్లు…ఈ విషయాలన్నీ ఈ వారం సమాచారం సమీక్ష ఎపిసోడ్ లో చర్చ విషయాలు. ఈ వారం సమాచారం సమీక్ష ఎపిసోడ్ కోసం, అయిషా మిన్హాజ్ లాయర్ వసుధ నాగరాజ్ గారితో మాట్లాడారు.

(For over two years now, the State Women’s Commission of Telangana hasn’t had a chairperson. For over two years, the women of Telangana haven’t been able to benefit from a fully functioning women’s commission. Activists, women’s organisations, lawyers and the media have been voicing concerns and submitting representations to the government of Telangana, but in vain.  This week’s Samacharam Sameeksha episode discusses the role and responsibilities of women’s commission, what a fully functioning commission can achieve, what the women of Telangana are losing out on and why we seem to have forgotten about the existence of this statutory body.
