Sir Michael Caine's long and celebrated career in the show business industry has spanned over 50 years, and he is back with a new book.
The screen icon, who has appeared in 125 films including Zulu and Alfie, has released a new autobiography, Blowing The Bloody Doors Off.
Speaking with Mike Hosking this morning, he Caine revealed the book came about when he broke his ankle, which left him with plenty of spare time to undertake the project.
"I retired when I was 60, then I came back into show business and went on to do another 20 films, even though I had already retired, I had written my autobiography."
"Well what happened to me was I got a script and I sent it back and said, 'I don't want to do it the part is too small' and he sent it back and said, 'you're not supposed to play the lover, you're supposed to play the father' and I suddenly realised it was all over."
"You can't be a movie star if you don't get the girl, so I retired."
Although many people know of the Hollywood star from the TV screen, his life before getting into acting has a story of its own as well.
"Before I became an actor, I had been a solider in Korea for a year, and I came back home and collapsed with malaria, and then became an actor. Here I am with a thick cockney accent, very skinny, and I became an actor. I never knew I would become rich and famous. It is quite a story."
