"Momma named him Clay... So I'mma call him Clay."
Michael Clay’s journey is one of grit, leadership, and breaking barriers. A proud San Jose native, Clay launched his NFL coaching career in 2013 and quickly became one of the youngest special teams coordinators in the league. Since then, he’s thrived—coaching in three Super Bowls and capturing his first championship in Super Bowl 59, when the Eagles defeated the Chiefs.
Before coaching, Clay was a standout linebacker at the University of Oregon, where he helped lead the Ducks to multiple BCS Championship games, including the historic 2012 Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin.
Beyond football, Clay embraces his roots as a first-generation American (his mother emigrated from Mexico) and enjoys life off the field on the golf course, sporting an impressive 7.1 handicap.
This episode dives into Michael’s path from player to coach, his experiences at the highest levels of football, and the values that continue to shape his journey.
