Michael Shippley is larger than life. You know when he is in the room or in the velodrome. He has an energy, enthusiasm and zest for life that is infectious.
Michael, or Shippley as he is often known, is an Aussie para track cyclist in the C4 category. He's a former triathlete and Olympic weightlifter.
Then in 2014, his whole world changed. He had a motorbike accident which resulted in a left common perennial nerve palsy (foot drop) and multi ligament damage to his left knee.
Shippley kept up his sports and found his way to track cycling which then took over in a big way. He's a Qld Academy of Sport athlete and the current 1km time trial Australian Record Holder in his category. He's currently chasing selection for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and has a few months left to do it. Hear his story and learn what drives him towards Tokyo.
