This week, Mattie talks to Michelle Wu, president of the Boston City Council. She’s the first woman of color to hold the post, and helped spearhead the city’s nationally-recognized paid parental leave policy. She had an unlikely road to public service, and wants to use her story to encourage more women and people of color to seek public office—even if they don’t consider themselves politicians. “If you feel that you have something to offer, then you should run for office,” she says.
