Smurf & Smurfette are endurance athletes balancing their careers as a doctor and educational leader with training, racing and life. This week we talk with 2019 70.3 Sunshine Coast and 2020 Ironman Cairns 30-34 Age Group champion Mick Lewandowski.

Still relatively new to the triathlon scene, Mick has rocketed to the top of the age group ranks. Coming from a competitive swim and surf life saving background, Mick has the motor and determination to make it big! We chat with Mick about;

• Life in the US College system as a competitive swimmer
• Transitioning in to triathlon and the challenges this has presented
• Building the foundation for performance through aerobic training
• Training through COVID and managing the changing goal posts of race dates
• His first Ironman at 2020 Ironman Cairns and coming away with the age group win and 3rd overall age grouper
