Mick Thwaites was a former pack-a-day smoker who has battled through alcohol addiction and depression.
Mick started to get into running in 2012 at the age of 38, and within the space of 3 years represented Australia at the 24 hour World Championships.
Mick talks about his massive 413km at the Canberra 48 hour, which was a lead-up to his second consecutive Badwater.
The Badwater 135 is the most demanding and extreme running race on the planet. It's held in the middle of summer and covers 135 miles (217km) from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, California.. where temperatures reach 50C (122F).
Mick came third in both 2015 and 2016 and share's his experience of what it was like..
