Mickey 17 & Black Bag Review

Listen Later

In this week’s episode of Frank and Amhara discuss and review Bong Joon Ho’s dark comedy science-fiction film Mickey 17 (an adaptation of Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey 7) and Steven Soderbergh spy thriller Black Bag (written by David Koepp).

Mickey 17, set in the future, follows Robbert Pattinson’s titular Mickey, who, to escape his debt to a powerful and sadistic loan shark, hastily signs up for a planetary colonisations mission, led by Mark Ruffallo’s Buffoonish ‘Kenneth Marshal’.  Unfortunately, the position he unwittingly signs for is that of an ‘Expendable,’ which involves being ruthlessly experimented on and deployed on suicide missions, only to be indefinitely ‘reprinted’ following death.

Black Bag is a conversation focused spy thriller (starring Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett and other actors). There’s a mole and a lot of double crossing…the details are boring but it’s short and the passing is fast.
