Bioengineers at New York University have perfected microchip-mounted bundles of field-effect transistors capable of detecting and precisely identifying pathogenic bacteria and viruses from samples of air.  Employing nanotechnology using graphene and microlithography, these chips can detect multiple microorganisms simultaneously.  They have successfully identified tiny deposits of the CoVid and influenza A viruses.  Besides incorporation into medical devices, these chips may be installed in building materials to make our homes and workplaces safer…..someday soon.
