In times of Arab domination, Puebla de Almorchón and the castle of the same name were formed; all of this included within the territory of Fash-Al-Ballut (or plain of the acorns), most of which was made up of the Valle de los Pedroches; the capital corresponded to Medina-Gafit (today Belalcázar).
