This podcast discusses Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, a viral respiratory illness caused by Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus—MERS-CoV. It was first reported in Saudi Arabia in 2012 and two cases were identified in the U.S. in early May 2014. About 30 percent of the people with MERS have died.
