After a punishing 12-day exchange of rockets and airstrikes, President Trump stepped before the cameras to declare that Israel and Iran had agreed to an American-brokered cease-fire. The truce, he said, would “give the region a chance to breathe and chart a path toward lasting stability.” But within hours, scattered artillery fire and a barrage of drone attacks shattered the fragile calm. The president, clearly frustrated, blasted both governments in an unscripted statement to the media.
