A man returns to his hometown after a thirty-year absence, to sell his deceased father's property to an oil company. His father was once a famous painter who gave up the art life to drink himself to death in the desert. As the man reacquaints himself with his old town, he comes to know the father he never knew through the people that he spent his final years with, and he falls in love with a woman who seems to have stepped out of one of his paintings.
