I just completed my director's workshop, and now it's time to put this talent to work. I write a play called The Apartment You Left Behind and begin searching for an actor to direct. Somehow, no one is available, so I hire an AI actor named Chatty, who seems remarkably committed to the work. What happens next is our first rehearsal together. Please put your phones on silence (unless you are listening to this episode).
MMM is about the simple things in my life that somehow become much more complicated than they have any business being. Who can't relate to that? I step up to the mic, armed with curiosity, a little humor, and usually a cup of strong coffee. I'm determined to understand why. Because somewhere in the "why", that's where we discover the good stuff.
Who Listens to MMM
Apparently…
People who go out for a walk and come back with more thoughts than they left with
People who notice abnormally normal, slightly absurd moments that the rest of the world misses
People who forget how to speak until they’ve had their first cup of coffee
People who are fellow late-night overthinkers, watching their 3 AM thoughts pull up a chair and say, "let's play"
People who are tired of self-improvement lectures and just want comfort listening and a minute to breathe
People who catch their reflection for a second and think, oh… there I am
People who wake up at strange hours and suddenly need insomnia audio companionship for their questions about existence
Also, possibly…
People who wish they could walk around in life wearing a cloak of invisibility
People who get distracted by squirrels or social media
People who fake a headache to get out of obligatory moments
And of course…
Anyone who doesn’t see themselves anywhere on this list but somehow ended up at the MMM studio anyway

I received my first listener email, and I'm excited to read you the reply I wrote back! Being the open person that I am, I enjoyed sharing personal stories about New Year's Day in Paris, Mexican-style crêpes, and “the usual” order at my favorite café. Song (and no dance) included.

I’m looking for some peace, mostly because the upstairs hamster mind party has gotten too loud. Somehow, that leads me to fail at meditation, an unusual self-diagnosis, black-screen mind rooms, vivid dreams, and a craving for my favorite comfort food.

I step out of the shower giggling and convinced that I've stumbled onto one of my favorite ideas in weeks. I’m excited about this and feel inspired to be spontaneous without prepping notes or rehearsing—just because the topic fascinated me.
I sit down in front of the microphone... and my world falls apart around me pretty quickly. At least I get the chance to say hi and check in on you!

I did everything right to fall asleep last night. It still turned into a full theater production. I closed the doors, gave my five pillows their assignments, made sure the room was sealed pitch black, and finally closed my eyes. Then a drip on the neighbor's air conditioner starts keeping time like a metronome, and I'm wide awake. That's when the negotiating with myself starts, and I never win, of course.
I'm recording this one live, mid-spiral, because I need to know if the dream looping actually ended, and I can finally rest my overthinking mind.

Today, I sat down to record something else, but this unexpected moment took over. It’s an unscripted circling around the one question that always seems to leave me suspended in a creative freeze-frame. Yet somehow, in this stream-of-consciousness conversation, the frame begins to move.

I went out for a quiet-my-mind walk, took a wrong turn, and ended up right in the middle of Saturday afternoon Buenos Aires city life. Families, the mental blah-blah-blahs, a bored sunset, and geese chasing children. Another normal day? Of course.

One vivid REM sleep dream somehow dropped me into Vegas, Marseille, and a chase scene involving a famous singer and a plastic dolphin head. I won’t attempt dream analysis on this one, but I’m glad I survived and woke up to a warm morning coffee.

I was at the crosswalk watching a leaf fall. The light changed and people crossed. I forgot to move. It’s March, and my northern hemisphere brain was already thinking, warmer days are coming. The trees undressing in front of me whispered, “Sorry, Johnny. You live in Argentina now.”
