Before the deck ever gets stackedā¦ the lighthouse has to be built.
In this opening episode of the How the Deck Gets Stacked Midnight Snack series, Gin explores the quiet origin story of the stabilizer ā the responsible one, the capable one, the person everyone eventually leans on.
Most stabilizers donāt consciously choose that role.
They grow into it early.
Sometimes the moment is so small it almost goes unnoticed.
A crying sibling.
A chaotic house.
A parent who canāt handle the moment.
And somewhere in those early experiences, a pattern begins forming.
The child who steps in.
The child who solves the problem.
The child who learns that stability is something they create for others.
Over time that pattern becomes identity.
The helper.
The caretaker.
The responsible one in the room.
But once a system identifies its stabilizer, something else begins to happen.
The deck slowly starts stacking.
In this episode, Gin reflects on the childhood moments that quietly trained her nervous system to become the lighthouse in the storm ā and why so many people who carry responsibility for everyone elseās survival never realize how early the role was assigned.
