Although she never considered herself a hero Miep Gies is definitely a hero in our books. 

Without giving too much away, Miep was integral in keeping the Frank family alive in their Amsterdam annexe. She also found, and at great personal risk, preserved the diaries of Anne Frank. 

We are truly in awe of her and this story brought us both to tears.
