Sermon Notes—“His Name: Mighty God
Lesson Text:
Mighty = possessing great and impressive power or strength.
God is not just mighty, He is THE ALMIGHTY! Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE for God.
17 Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you. 18 You show steadfast love to thousands, but you repay the guilt of fathers to their children after them, O great and mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts,
35 All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, ‘What do you mean by doing these things?
3 The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.
Jesus is called the mighty God, having the same POWER as the Father.
23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Because Jesus is the mighty God, everything He PROMISED will come to pass.
Why is it important to remember that Jesus is the mighty God?
8 With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people took confidence from the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
If you know Jesus is the Mighty God, then why do you carry the weight of the world in your shoulders?
