John identified Jesus as the Lamb of God when Pharisees were looking for a king who would deliver them from Roman oppression, not for a spiritual leader. As Jesus’ public ministry begins, there is a transition from John to Jesus. Jesus calls to him the first disciples and his first miracle was changing water to wine at Cana in Galilee in the spring AD 27. Jesus began His earthly ministry in context to a wedding feast, symbolizing the messianic banquet.
