Matthew 13 contains seven parables about the kingdom—the first four were spoken to the crowds and the last three only to the disciples. Jesus spoke in parables both to reveal and conceal truth. That is, to make truth easier to understand for those who are receptive to Him and to hide truth from those who hardened their hearts against Him.
