The Mountain Safety Council is looking at improving how safety information is being distributed after an increase in search and rescue operations for trampers.
There's been more than 40,000 tramping related injuries in the past decade, and an 83 per cent annual increase.
While a growing proportion of rescues are for young international visitors, Mountain Safety Council boss Mike Daisley told Mike Hosking it's not just an issue with tourists.
"We are simply agnostic when it comes to who is being rescued and who is being injured and dying. It's simply about reducing that number overall so more people are enjoying their time outdoors."
