Listen Later

Millard Fillmore's message to Congress upon the death of Zachary Taylor. Delivered 07/10/1850. Read by Yuvraj Singh. Fillmore was advanced to the presidency of his predecessor, Zachary Taylor, died after a year in office. Like several presidents before him, and the couple after him, slavery was a pertinent issue during his presidency. The Compromise of 1850, which included the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, is perhaps the most notable aspect of his presidency.

The cover art is an 1857 portrait of Millard Fillmore by George Peter Alexander Healy.
