We're kicking off a three-part interview with a very special guest, David Pedregon!

David was our Community Champion during Incubator last year and has started, run, and sold multiple successful businesses, including Dogology here in Fredericksburg.

Today we're getting to know the man behind the businesses! We ask him what first inspired him to become an entrepreneur, some of the biggest lessons and challenges he's faced along the way, and what he believes separates successful small businesses from the rest.

Today we're talking all about priorities and how we're learning to balance everything going on in our lives!

Between school, sports, college applications, starting a business, and the podcast, our to-do lists can get pretty overwhelming. We're realizing that sometimes you just can't get everything done, and that's okay! It's about figuring out what's actually important, knowing what deserves your time, and still making room to enjoy life.

Caroline also shares how she's working on managing her time better and breaking the habit of putting things off until the last minute.

At the end of the day, we're learning that being busy doesn't always mean being productive, and sometimes it's more important to do the right things than to do everything!

Today we're talking about how being athletes our entire lives has prepared us for so much more than just sports!

From learning how to handle criticism and being coachable to working as a team, dealing with failure, and staying disciplined, we’re realizing just how many lessons we've taken from the field into the business world.

We talk about how sports have shaped the way we approach challenges, work with others, and push ourselves outside our comfort zones. Turns out, all those years of practices, games, wins, and losses have been preparing us for a lot more than we realized!

We're back with Part Two of our interview with Jason Ramer, our former Incubator teacher and mentor!

We finish up our conversation by asking him when he realized the Incubator program was becoming exactly what he hoped it would be. He talks about giving students real-world experiences, connecting them with business professionals who genuinely want to invest in their futures, and creating opportunities that many adults wish they'd had at our age.

Then he turns the tables and asks what we've learned from the program! From learning how to dress professionally to communicating confidently with adults and business owners, we reflect on how much more prepared we feel for the real world because of Incubator.

Today we spiral a little bit about the future. We're starting to realize that we might not actually end up at the same college, and honestly, the thought of going separate ways and not always having each other in our corner is pretty scary.

We talk about the uncertainty of what's next, wondering if we're making the right decisions, and how hard it can be to trust the process when you don't know how everything is going to turn out.

We have big plans and a lot of faith that everything happens for a reason, but that doesn't mean we always have the answers or aren't scared of the unknown. This episode is a little glimpse into what it actually looks like to be figuring it all out as we go.

Today we're sharing a pretty special story about something that happened to Lily's mom on a flight. While helping a blind woman, she was given a little card that said "Be Happy" on the front. The woman's sister is a motivational speaker who carries these cards to share with people, and the message inside happened to be exactly what Lily's mom needed to hear.

We talk about how sometimes the smallest interactions can have the biggest impact, how this message applies to our own lives and business journey, and how we believe things happen when they're supposed to.

Well… turns out things didn’t go exactly as planned. 😂 We thought we were meeting with a formulator for our business, but we actually ended up meeting with a marketer instead!

But that’s okay! We’re learning as we go, figuring out the next steps, and hopefully meeting with the formulators soon. Starting a business definitely comes with unexpected turns, but every experience is an opportunity to learn something new.
