On this week's episode of Milt Talk Legacy Builders host Zahraa Mouzon is bringing back Entrepreneur and Strategic Advisor, Joe Hotagua. With over 14 years of professional experience helping Startups monetize their digital assets & Fortune 500 Brands reach their target customers through online advertising, he has decided to leave his role at Hulu, and move to Ghana to focus on advising companies in Africa full time.
Joe currently works for Jumia as Head Of Advertising for Ghana. He also runs Hotagua Enterprises, a Freetown, Sierra Leone-based advisory firm. Since moving to the continent, He has partnered with Google For Africa, MEST, and Founder's Institute to advise/mentor their startups on how to build their brands online and increase their footprint with their prospective customers. Joe's mission is to help entrepreneurs in Africa, gain access to the same resources afforded to their counterparts in the US and Europe.
Lastly, Joe has started an e-commerce platform (AuthenticAfrican.com) that is all about fair trade and African handmade products. By building this platform he is helping African Artisans sell their products around the world. He has also built the Authentic African brand into a Social Media presence with over 40k followers and subscribers across Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. He is using these platforms to teach the diaspora about their history, inform them of current events affecting the black community, and also chronicling his move to the continent. He plans to continue to share his journey and begin interviewing African startups along the way.
