Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, with sustained winds of more than 100 miles per hour. Milton landed near Sarasota, about 70 miles south of Tampa, at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Petersburg recorded more than 16 inches of rain, prompting the National Weather Service to warn of flash flooding there as well as in other parts of western and central Florida. Former President Donald Trump is returning to New York City in the final stretch of the race for the White House. He has scheduled a rally at Manhattan’s Madison Square Garden at the end of October. Trump has also held rallies in the South Bronx and Uniondale, Long Island. He says that he can win New York, even though it has long been a Democratic stronghold.
