Minal Hajratwala – Bountiful Instructions for Enlightenment

Listen Later

Late Night Debut, hosted by Amber Keller
This month’s episode features Minal Hajratwala’s debut poetry collection, Bountiful Instructions for Enlightenment, from The (Great) Indian Poetry Collective. Prageeta Sharma, author of Undergloom and Infamous Landscapes, calls Bountiful “a stunning collection that modulates between steady narratives full of anchored images and storytelling, and playful voices occurring out of lyric utterance.”
Act 1: Host Amber Keller covers entertaining book news and cool new debuts

Act 2: Co-host authors Elizabeth Harlan-Ferlo and Andrea Hollander discuss Minal Hajratwala’s debut

Act 3: Elizabeth and Minal talk about identity, rebellion, and performance vs. the page
“I’m interested in going beyond the traditional ideas of what we think of as identity. I’m more interested in our identity as, say, a human vs. as a divine being, or as an animal, or even as a machine. What parts of ourselves are pulled toward these bigger identities?”
