2020年终于接近尾声了。不知不觉,我们在这不寻常的一年中竟然录制了21期基智一点的正式节目,远远超过我们一开始制定的6期的小目标。在这一年中,我们跟17位来自不同研究领域的朋友讨论了横跨十几个研究领域的32篇文献,算是一个不错的开始。在2020年的最后一天,我们三位主创一起回顾总结了这一年的录制经历。希望在即将到来的2021年,继续跟大家一起分享和讨论更多关于智能的研究和思考。

很多时候,不用数,一眼看过去,我们往往就能知道前面有几个人、几辆车。在数量很小的情况下,譬如只有1到4个人,我们往往一下就能知道精确的人数。而数量在5及以上的时候,我们虽然也能很快得出一个数量,但这个数量往往是一个粗略的估计,并不精确。识别数量的能力不只是成年人才有,不会说话的小婴儿和小动物也能区分数量的不同,这说明我们感知数量的能力并不来自于语言和数数。那么,我们的认知系统是怎样加工数量信息的呢?我们在识别1、2、3这样小的数量和更大的数量时有什么不同?小数量和大数量的识别来自于不同的数量感知系统还是同一个数量感知系统?在这一期节目中,我们和嘉宾Jenny Wang老师一起聊聊人的数量感知和这方面的有趣研究。

欢迎大家收听《基智一点》的子栏目《设计师有问题呀》,这是我们在制作《基智一点》的过程中自然衍生出来的一档节目。在每一期节目录制完成后,我们都会和设计师沟通当期的内容,方便设计师设计当期的封面。在沟通的过程中,设计师常常会有很多关于节目内容的问题,我们也会对这些问题做出通俗简短的回答,让没有认知和心理方面专业知识的设计师更好地理解每一期节目的重点。进行过多期的沟通之后,我们觉得或许这个问答的过程,也可以做成短小的节目,这样,即便是完全不了解我们讨论的文献和没有专业背景的听众也能够了解新一期的节目大致讲了什么,同时也为听正式节目详细讨论的听众提供一个高度概括和总结的框架便于进一步理解。

一串阿拉伯数字,在你的大脑中激发起了一系列的神经活动,可是你看到的只是横七扭八的笔触,明明学过数学知道数字的概念,却认不出它们是什么数字。大多数人很难想象这种体验是什么样,那么不妨跟我们一起了解一下这期节目的主角,一位无法识别阿拉伯数字2到9的病人。这位病人有着正常的视力和识别能力,也认得出0和1,却偏偏看不到2到9,甚至连这些数字附近的文字和图像也会受到波及。在这一期节目中,我们通过这个特殊的病例,与嘉宾一起讨论视觉、意识和神经活动之间的关系,了解实实在在的视觉信号和神经活动为什么没能成为视觉意识,以及脑损伤的病人在认知研究中的重要作用。

作为视觉动物,人类的很多活动和行为都非常依赖眼睛,眼睛为大脑提供了大量的信息,甚至在很多感知觉上,出现了视觉主导的现象。同时,眼睛也是非常脆弱的器官,会出现各种各样的病变,有的病变甚至会造成失明。2010年世界卫生组织公布的数据表明,全球有近3亿人有视觉障碍,有近四千万的盲人。为了让患者恢复视力,提高生活质量,研究者们提出了各类解决方案。比如,部分盲人可以通过植入人工视网膜,依靠仿生眼重获光明。目前,已经有人工视网膜产品通过了美国和欧盟的卫生部门批准,进入临床应用。
仿生眼(人工视网膜)到底是怎么工作的呢?它能让盲人看到什么呢?它离普通人还有多远呢?今天我们就来聊一聊视觉重塑和人工视网膜。

人类的心理可以被科学地研究吗?那些内在的不可直接观察的心理过程是否可以被纳入科学研究的范畴?是否只有可观察的外在行为才可以被科学系统地研究?上世纪20年代,行为主义(behaviorism)开始兴起,试图用自然科学的手段和标准革新心理学研究,带领当时可谓是新兴学科的心理学走向科学的康庄大道。行为主义主张只能研究外在环境和个体行为之间的关系,不应该涉猎不可观察、只能靠推测的内心活动。这一期,我们将走进行为主义旗手斯金纳的视角,通过他的著作Science and Human Behavior,来讨论和反思行为主义。
