If you've spent any amount of time trying to program your workouts or do any research into strength training, then you've come across articles and videos debating whether weightlifting or Callisthenics (bodyweight training) is more beneficial. Avid enthusiasts of each discipline will lecture you on why their variation is the best.
Strength Training/ Resistance Training is the activity of using your muscles against resistance to create enough stress to make them grow in size and strength. Weight lifting is typically associated with strength training, but Callisthenics which, involves bodyweight movements, is just as effective.
If you've been following me for a while, you know I believe every fitness discipline has its benefits, and a combination of different modalities is always the best way to have it all. The real question here is, what is the difference, and when do we know we're ready to move from one to the other?
