In this episode, we give a brief overview of what it means to have a "growth mindset" versus a more common "fixed mindset". Many of us have a mindset that tells us that our abilities and traits are fixed and after a certain point cannot be changed.
A growth mindset is one in which we believe we can improve through determination, practice, and hard work.
A Fixed mindset is one in which we believe our talents and abilities are pre-determined and that there is a ceiling to them.
Having a growth mindset is paramount when trying to learn new skills. Having a growth mindset is crucial when aiming to do difficult things such as changing our bodies, completing a project, and leveling up our lives.
Part of having a growth mindset is falling in love with the process of working towards our goals. We establish systems and routines that will eventually get us to where we want to be. It's impossible to fall in love with the process of working to get better with a fixed mindset. A fixed mindset assumes not much can change.
Knowing our "why" give our work and practice it's purpose and meaning. Celebrating small wins along the way allows us to feel good about continuing on with our journey of hard work and practice.
