Our guest was Alishir Alim, a veteran who served in the United States Navy as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman and currently an Operational Analyst for the Defense sector of the United States Army. We start our journey with the joy of being a father and the life-style changes that come with it. Hear his story coming from Urumchi and going to Japan and his travels that have taken him around the world like Afghanistan, South Korea, England, France, Turkey, and more. The journey to becoming an Army Medic started from high school and the rigorous boot camps and tours he served in Afghanistan. His responsibility to his "brothers" in the army to keep them alive during combat and stay in touch with them as civilians. He tells the story of being in enemy territory against the Taliban and making a difference to the local communities. We reflect on the challenges of leaving the soldier life and transitioning to a civilian one, and we discussed the need to help Uyghur Veterans of the USA army who are or will be serving.
