Today, our guest was Dr. Bill Clark, an adjunct professor at Northwest University specializing in Cultural Anthropology, focusing on the Uyghur people. We shared stories about the Uyghur communities he lived in, from Ghulja to Urumchi to the diaspora community in Kazakstan and the US. We reminisced about Uyghur gatherings (Olturash), laughing with Ghulja’s famous comedians, and told tales about the wonderful families he came across on his trek through Central Asia. He explained his current role as a peacemaker in bringing people of different faiths into common dialogue and friendship. Lastly, we discussed the Uyghur Wellness Initiative (UWI) and its goals for providing counseling for Uyghur people through these difficult times and the never-ending quest to build bridges.
