Here is the truth behind pre-modern slavery:

- It wasn't always about race

- It wasn't always about cotton

- Yes, clergymen (priests) were involved

- Yes, African chieftains in African were involved

- Some historians point out that it started in the Mediterranean Sea and shifted to the Atlantic Slave Trade (we'll never know the real origin behind slavery)
