A panda is a type of bear that mainly eats bamboo and resides in the Asian continent. Like an orca, they are usually white and black in their fur colors and are known as a symbol of China. However, though they are popular attractions to any zoo, they are still endangered.







One would think that a red panda would be only a variant of the normal panda, the giant panda, albeit with different shades and hues that make it appear redder, but in fact, the red panda is a type of creature that is less related to the giant panda and more closely related to raccoons, skunks, and weasels. How the so unpanda-like, in appearance at least, red panda came to be named like this, is that they were observed to have a similar amount of behaviors, like their overlapping regions and bamboo diets.



Another misleading name is the gravy train. The literal name would make you think it is… well… a train of gravy, but the actual meaning is an easy way of getting money, most likely from somehow exploiting something.



Chinese checkers is one of the most misleading names, as it is neither a form of checkers nor was it invented in China. It is actually a game played on a six-sided star, where you try to work your pieces down the side. The game was invented in Germany.



Peanuts, coconuts, pistachios, and walnuts – none of them are actually nuts. They belong to the same group of plants as coffee beans and olives, called drupes.
