These chapters warn against chasing wealth and show how people waste time with too many vows, foolish prayers and useless wishes. The author says that all good things come from God; storing up money doesn’t solve life’s problems because it leads to anxiety. He urges honesty before God, keeping promises, avoiding unnecessary vows, and appreciating the simple joy in working for God’s blessings.
These chapters talk about time and how everything in life has a season—birth, death, laughter, grief, war, peace, work or rest. The book reminds us that we cannot change the order of God’s plan, so we must live with what comes. It shows how people suffer, argue, love, hate, win or lose. Despite the seeming absurdity, the writer tells us there is hope in living honestly and seeking understanding from God.
The opening chapters ask whether life has any meaning and answer in the negative: everything seems pointless, as if chasing after wind. The author tried learning, working, making music, eating, and even drinking but found nothing lasting. He writes about how time is wasted, people feel tired, sad, angry and that even wisdom can’t bring real satisfaction. Yet he also points out that God exists beyond the sun’s light, encouraging us to ask questions instead of accepting emptiness.
