Mission Sunday: Equal Passion | Matthew 28:18-20

Introduction
· Today is mission Sunday, we do this three times a year to remind ourselves of some very important truths… truths like these:
o There is more to Christianity than Christian Life Church.
o God created and loves more than just Cedar Rapids.
o Iowa is not the center of the universe, no matter what the media says during election time.
o The United States is not God’s only concern.
o There are people all over the world, from different nations, backgrounds, cultures, and languages whom God loves, whom God died for, whom God is calling, and for whom God is sending missionaries to preach the Gospel.
· This Sunday I want you to get pumped up for missions!
o I want you, for one Sunday, to not worry about yourself, your own spirituality, what you need from God, how you need whatever…
o This Sunday put that all aside and think “What can I do to seek and save the lost?”

Matthew 28:18-20 ESV And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
· Jesus says “I have been given all authority in heaven and earth, every ounce of authority ever is mine! I have it all! And what do I command with that authority? What do I say? I take all that authority and I say GO!
o GO!
o GO!
· But where are we to go?
o ALL NATIONS!
· And what are we to do?
o MAKE DISCIPLES!
· And what should we teach our disciples?
o All the things Jesus taught us!
· And how long shall we do this?
o Until the end of the age! Until I come back, and behold, I am with you always! Jesus responds!
· Pastor Paul Washer says this regarding this great commission:
o Missions is not a complicated thing…
o You are all called to be involved in the great commission… every one of you.
o With equal passion!
o Whether you stay here, or go into the darkest jungles of Indonesia
§ You are called to embrace the great commission with equal passion! Every one of you.
You may be seated.

· You see I have meet a lot of missionaries who are crazy passionate about the great commission.
o As they should be, they have given there lives to that commission, to that command from God, they have left it all behind.
o Yes the missionaries are passionate about the great commission…
· But I find that FEW church goers are that passionate.
o And I get it, when you are not on the field there are so many distractions in life…
§ What school to send your kids to.
§ What career path to follow.
§ What house to buy.
§ What job to take.
§ What doctor to see.
§ What woman to marry.
§ What gifts to send your grandkids.
§ What show to binge next on Netflix.
o We get so distracted with life here in Iowa that we forget that there are billions of people who don’t know Jesus around the world.
o Many of whom have never even heard his name.
· Now pastor Amanda and I, our goal with CLC, as God has given it to us, is not just to raise up an awesome church in Cedar Rapids filled with love and fellowship and new and old believers alike.
o We have done that. But that is not our goal, that is simply a stepping stone toward our goal.
· Our goal is to raise up a church where everyone involved is just as passionate about the great commission as the missionary in the middle of Pakistan preaching the truth of Jesus.
o To be just as passionate as the missionaries risking their lives in North Korea.
o To be just as passionate as the saints who are being killed for their faith in parts of Africa.
· Because after all Jesus used all of His authority to say this: GO TO ALL NATIONS.
Point One – How will they he
