June 21, 1964- This is the true story behind the Civil Rights era based movie, Mississippi Burning. Over the course of the summer of 1964, members of the Ku Klux Klan terrorized churches and communities. Three Civil Rights Movement activists, James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, were murdered by local members of the Klan.
