Last Saturday Mississippi woke up to these devastating reports of multiple shootings at homecoming football games in the central part of the state. Five separate shootings happened at celebratory events, taking the lives of precious young people still at the beginning of their lives. Parents, relatives, friends, and communities are still reeling while authorities, including the FBI, are in a massive manhunt to find the perpetrators of these heinous murders with some success but a few are still at large. The usual reactions are occurring with calls for more gun control and restrictions on law abiding citizens ringing out from those who choose to politicize the events instead of seeking to understand what could possibly be the root causes of such cultural rot that it leads to actions like these, especially by young men. Just 24 hours before the shootings, I had Jackson Mississippi native and radio host Clay Edwards on this show, asking that very question. My guest today is retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Chris Hinkle who has vast experience investigating crime.
