Sat, Apr 04 2009 Mister Ron's Basement #1336 Last week we ran pieces from a 'scissors and paste' book from 1881 -- this week we have dug out a similar project from waaay back in 1830. The book is called 'The Gleaner, or Selections in Prose and Poetry from the Periodical Press.' Some of the stories are quite funny, but the language is highly formal and stilted. Nevertheless, we have dug out some gems. Today we hear about a prospective husband's three conditions to his fiancee. It's simply called 'Anecdote.'
