This week was the deadline for families to apply for $100-per-child state tax credits that have been heavily promoted by Gov. Scott Walker. But it turns out it's not quite that easy to give away money. While most eligible families requested the credits, more than 100,000 didn't. Meanwhile, people who buy things online will be more likely to have to pay a sales tax thanks to a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, but per Wisconsin law, everyone will be getting an income tax break to offset that revenue gain.
