Massive oil spill off Mauritius
On July 25, Japanese freighter MV Wakashio, owned by Nagashiki Shipping Company, struck the reef at Pointe d'Esny, just off the coastal village of Mahebourg in Mauritius. Oil from the ship spilled over the pristine, turquoise-blue waters, turning it into an ugly black and brown color. Protestors in Port Louis have demanded a full investigation into the oil spill. The ship’s captain has been arrested....
