Chasing the Cutoff with Troy Eid

Moab 240-Mile Ultramarathon: The 4th Time is the Charm

Listen Later

The cutoff time in the Moab 240-Mile Ultramarathon – one of the world’s most-challenging endurance competitions in the deserts and high mountains around and above Moab, Utah – is 117 hours. Zachary “Zach” Molloie, a Manhattan attorney-entrepreneur, chased that cutoff for nine years. He willed himself to become a seasoned endurance athlete and, on his fourth attempt, earned the coveted Moab 240 belt buckle in October 2025 at age 40. Zach shares lessons learned from the Moab 240 – including what it’s like to race inside a thunderstorm on a mountain top in the middle of the night – and how ultramarathoning helps him achieve his personal and professional goals.
