Warrensville Heights Police
, along with various departments, arrested a suspect in connection with the triple killing that took place at a barber shop Feb. 5.
At a news conference earlier this week, police named Douglas Shine, 20, also known as ”Duke” or ”Little Duke,” as the suspect. Police say he has a lengthy criminal record, including robbery and assaults.
”Everybody is relieved that this individual is off the street. He was dangerous. He was violent, unpredictable. So I think the level of relief is high,” said Warrensville Heights Police Chief Wesley Haynes.
Shine is accused of shooting up Chalk Linez, injuring three and killing three.
Walter Lee Barfield, 23, William Gonzalez, 32, and Brandon White, 31, died from their injuries. Gonzalez was the owner of the barber shop.
During a Friday afternoon news conference, Haynes said numerous tips led agencies to a Cleveland residence near E. 71st and Harvard. Around 2:30 a.m., FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, Cleveland Police Gang Unit and SWAT surrounded the residence, and described it as a calm scene, as Shine walked out the back door with his hands up.
Warrensville Heights Mayor Bradley Sellers said the partnership among departments and communities led to the successful capture of Shine.
”We‘d, again, like to thank the residents of the Warrensville Heights community and the public for their assistance for bringing this suspect into capture,” said Sellers.
A member of the FBI said other crimes associated with this deadly shooting will be included in the investigation and justified.
A motive has yet to be determined.
