Hello my friends, my life warriors how are you doing today?

Today on the podcast I am very happy to have Mochi Robinson composer, and producer Mochi Robinson describes his vibe as “somewhere between a stank-face and a serenade,” and that couldn’t be more evident on his new project Nostalgia 1.

The eight-track collection straddles moments of sublime beauty (the ambient-tinged “Isolated Solace”), grimy grooves (the big-beat bravado of “Porthpean” featuring drummer Tom Mcvey), and moments in between (the breathtaking D’Angelo-Esque closer “You Say Goodbye,” with guest vocalist Amy Reader).

Robinson has been releasing beat tapes and one-off songs on Bandcamp since 2013, and this release is the first in a three-part series taking “a retrospective look at my childhood,” he says. It’s warm and comforting, but also outer-directed as well — while musical ventures into the world of memory can often feel like a layover in some distant fog, Robinson is firmly rooted in the now and looking forward, fueled by all that came before; these songs are a representation of that, and one that sounds stunning on headphones.

So please enjoy the podcast and stay safe, stay well, be awesome, and please take a moment to tell a friend and subscribe.
