It seems that Modern Warfare 2 is testing a Call of Duty open world game according to recent leaks. There was a Call of Duty Black Ops 3 open world game being built in 2013.  COD BLOPS 3 was the first game to introduce Specialists that seemed very similar to another live service shooter game at the time. It is my theory that COD MW2, DMZ, and WARZONE 2 are all the continuation of a testing ground for an open world Call of Duty game in the future.  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a 2022 first-person shooter game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It is a sequel to the 2019 reboot, and serves as the nineteenth installment in the overall Call of Duty series
