James discusses in detail the Canaanite practice of child sacrifice, citing modern and ancient historians. By understanding the practice, we walk through the motivation of God's decree for Israel to completely destroy the Canaanite people. James shows how the command was about stopping an awful practice, not that God wants genocide and answers possible objections to the explanation. Finally, James challenges the church to open its eyes and see that something even worse than Molech worship is occurring under our noses and the church has too long be focused on preserving a comfortable culture and allowed it to go unanswered.
