"Mom, I don't need you to go on this field trip with me. I'm not five!" I yelled at my mom as she pulled up to my school.

After I said it a wave of regret crept over me. My mom looked hurt but she didn't say anything. We got out of the car and walked towards the school.

Hi, my name is Lianne.

"Is that your mom, Lianne?" Troy asked as he pointed towards the dairy section in the supermarket.

My friends teased me as I blocked my face and walked quickly out of the supermarket.

“Don’t worry about the others,” my best friend Shanice said, “Your mom is just trying to keep you safe in a chaotic world!” she squeezed my hand.

I smiled at Shanice but I wished that my mother did not have this crazy obsession with me. Even though I was allowed to go everywhere I was never alone. My mother was either there as a chaperon or she was lurking somewhere in the shadows.
